Welcome Master of Public Health Students. This page is a guide to services and tools available for Graduate Students at K-State courtesy of the K-State Libraries. I am available to assist with your research needs at any step in the research process from idea formulation through to publication. I offer one-on-one consultations, in-person or virtually.  If scheduled in advance, I am also available most nights and weekends for virtual consultations.

ILL and Document Delivery

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a service that allows faculty, staff, and students to request articles and books that are either checked out or not owned by K-State Libraries. This service is generally free of charge, in the rare case where there will be a cost the library will contact you to see if you still want the item. Turn around varies, but generally books arrive in 3-10 days and PDF articles arrive in 2-5 days.

Document Delivery is a service offered by ILL, where staff will scan articles or book chapters, up to 50 pages, and send them to you. This service is for items owned by K-State Libraries. Plan on 5-7 days for PDF scans to arrive.

Distance Students can use both of these services but ILL requests will be mailed to your office or home. This includes students who may be completing their field experience outside of Manhattan and want materials sent to them. Students are responsible for any return postage of physical materials. For document delivery allow for 4-12 days. For ILL requests allow for 6-17 days for physical items.

Citation Tools

There are many citation management programs available.  Librarians have created a Citations and Bibliographies resource for helping you decide if you want to use one and which ones are available.

Zotero: Zotero is a free citation management system.  It is available to everyone.  It is not limited to K-State affiliation.

Purdue OWL: Purdue's Online Writing Lab (OWL), is the definitive source for formatting and citation guidelines, including APA and MLA.  This is a great resource filled with lots of examples.

Open Access Publishing Assistance

If you are interested in publishing your research in an Open Access Journal, the K-State Open Access Publishing Fund can provide funding to cover or help cover the author/publication fees.  Please see the website for details and a link to the application. (If you get a message the survey is closed then there are no funds available at this time.)
