Your Assignment

For your sustainability project, you will investigate issues associated with creating a sustainable product from a biomass (corn, soybeans, switch grass, algae, other biomass, etc). You will design and present a poster for invited MAPS sponsors, faculty, and university staff.

Project outline:

  •   Choose a biomass to research.
  •   Discipline specific perspective on your product.
    • Describe the agricultural, natural resource and sustainability implications of producing products from this biomass.
    • Describe the business considerations for producing and marketing this product.
    • Describe the engineering and environmental issues associated with producing, distributing, and using this product.
  •   Develop conclusions about the future of using your biomass "input" for producing bio-based products.
