For this assignment, you will write a formal report of between 1400-1600 words that will analyze what good writing looks like in a specific field or major. There will be different sections of the report, and you'll need five outside sources.
In one of those sections, you'll need three expert secondary sources that talk about writing in that specific field. One of those secondary sources must be peer-reviewed. You can also include an interview as one of those expert sources, but it must not take up more than 1/4 of the report.
In another section, you'll need two primary sources that form the basis of your genre analysis. These will be pieces of writing that represent a specific field or major.
For more information about the Writing Across the Disciplines report, see pages 69-73 in your textbook.
For the section of the paper that requires writing examples from your specific major or field, you can start with the Libraries' Search It tool. An introduction of how to use the tool is located on the Search It page and can be found in the left-side navigation.
To successfully find experts in books and locate writing examples in Search It, you can use advanced methods of searching. A screenshot below shows how to use keywords to narrow your results by subject. This particular search would give you results that are about written communication and lawyers.

Google has advanced searching tricks to find specific results. One way to use these options is to find information on your topic from guides created by librarians. Libraries all over the world develop guides for all kinds of special topics.
Guides created by librarians usually contain "research guides" in the url. The screenshot below shows how to use the inurl: search to find results that contain your keywords within the url of a website.
The example below shows results that contain "research guides" in the url and contain the keywords "writing in the disciplines". For your search, you could put in your field or major rather than the general "writing in the disciplines" keywords.
