Google Books

Allows you to search the full text of hundreds of thousands of books. It also allows you to read many of them (especially those published prior to 1923). When full text is not available, Google Books provides previews or snippets. Use the "Find in a Library" link to discover if a book is located in a nearby library.

Google Scholar

An enormous, multi-disciplinary index to journal articles, books, book chapters, theses, conference papers and much more. Please note, not everything in Google Scholar is equally scholarly. Use your critical thinking skills!

Searching Google Through the Library

Google can be useful to find information quickly, but it can return a lot of non-scholarly sources.
