American Law Reports (ALR) entries are similar to, but not quite like those found in encyclopedias. ALR entries, or annotations, are not organized alphabetically and rather than providing a general topic overview, tend to narrow in on the specifics of the law.

Black's Law Dictionary is the most widely accepted authority in providing definitions for legal terms.
