As the lead of the learning experience and design team, Melia collaborates within and outside of the academic services department to consult, assist with and create learning environments that meet the needs of both instructors and students. Melia can help faculty and instructors identify appropriate instruction and research resources for inclusion in their class. She also can assist and consult in the development of innovative services and intuitive interfaces that allow both internal and external users to interact with K-State Libraries resources. As part of her role, Melia works with critical library instruction, assessment, student learning and a central focus on diversity and equity.
Melia is also a member of the New Literacies Alliance Steering Committee, which works to address the new literacies needed for academic success and lifelong learning through open education online lessons, and the liaison to the undergraduate programs in the College of Education.
Melia holds a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction, an MLS (Library Science), an MA in English, a graduate certificate in Women's Studies, and a BA in Theatre (emphasis in costume design and history).
