There are many ways to research social issues. These are some recommended starting places but may not cover all issues.

Single-themed reports on current issues from Congressional Quarterly Press dating back to 1923. Topics include social trends, health concerns, the economy, education, and technology. Reports provide overview, background, pro/con arguments, chronologies, current situation, and bibliographies of additional sources.
- USA Facts"Government data to drive fact-based discussion." Explore data by topics, including agriculture, education, and health.
- Congressional Research Services ReportsOfficial site, as of 2018, for reports researched for members of Congress on wide-ranging issues of relevance to public laws and policies. Inclusion of prior reports not ensured.
- Congressional Research Services Reports - University of North TexasCreated to download, digitize, and archive CRS reports prior to the 2018 law permitting the CRS to publicly distribute the reports. This site now acts as an archive for pre-2018 reports, to include digitizing donated reports. Not comprehensive. Coverage extends back to 1970.
